Rescued Hearts is a documentary sparked by a seven-year-old with autism who spoke his first words beside a horse. That single moment is the reason this film exists, and it’s a good window into why CANTER exists too.
The film, from Dana Croschere and Krisanna Sexton, is a look at the kind of moment your support makes room for — the quiet, unscripted breakthroughs that happen when a young person and a horse are simply present with each other. No riding lesson teaches that. No worksheet gets you there. It takes eight weeks, a herd, and a horse who reads exactly what’s actually happening, not what anyone says is happening.
We premiered Rescued Hearts — First Hour at a private screening for our community this month, alongside a barn tour, a silent auction, and a lot of good conversation. It felt like the right way to show people what their sponsorship, their volunteer hours, and their gifts actually build.
